Curating a Stellar Lineup: Balancing Big Names and Emerging Voices
Selecting the right mix of speakers is a delicate balancing act at Craft Conference. “We strive to feature well-known industry leaders while also providing a platform for emerging voices with fresh perspectives” – says Gergely Hodicska (Felhő), co-founder of Craft.
To achieve this, we run an open Call for Papers (CFP), receiving hundreds of applications each year. This allows us to discover lesser-known talents while maintaining a high standard of quality. However, selecting the best talks is no easy task: while many proposals sound exciting on paper, we also look for the depth and clarity that can truly engage and inspire the audience. To ensure a strong lineup, we now require a video submission, helping us assess the speaker’s delivery and the true value of their talk – adds Felhő. “Beyond the CFP, we actively scout for great speakers by reviewing talks on platforms like YouTube and keeping an eye on standout presentations at other conferences.”
Another crucial element? Speaker recommendations. Many of Craft’s past speakers love the unique atmosphere of the conference and frequently suggest outstanding voices they’ve encountered at other events. This organic network helps to maintain the high-caliber lineup that makes Craft Conference an unmissable experience.
